Prof. dr. Robert Meijer has a PhD of the University of Utrecht in experimental nuclear physics (1991). During postdoc research at GSI he was responsible for the particle detection systems. At KPN Research he was leading Internet, CATV, satellite, and digital video projects. For KPN, in 1996 and 2001, he designed the largest Dutch ISP and the Imode mobile ISP. In 2003 Robert Meijer followed KPN Research as it became part of TNO, the Dutch Organization for Applied Research. At TNO he developed, as a telecom application, a global scale dike monitoring system and started the IJkdijk foundation that continues this R&D initiative (2007). Meijer was the coordinator of the “excellent” rated EU FP7 UrbanFlood project in 2013.
He has been a long time columnist in FD Outlook, a financial magazine, writing recently about the future of Telco’s (December 2014).
